How Much Is My SaaS Business Worth? 2026 Multiples
November 3, 2026
What a small SaaS business sells for in 2026: published profit and ARR multiples, how to pick the right one, and a free calculator to estimate your range. The honest answer to "how much is my SaaS worth" is a range, and the range depends on two things: which earnings figure a buyer will multiply, and how your numbers compare with the businesses that have actually sold. This guide gives you the published multiples, shows how to apply them, and points to a free calculator that runs the arithmetic for you.
What small SaaS businesses have sold for
Two recent, public data points are the most useful for owner-run SaaS:
- Median 3.9x profit. Acquire.com reports that SaaS businesses sold on its marketplace at a median profit multiple of 3.9x in both 2024 and 2025, with confirmed profit multiples averaging in the low-to-mid 4x range over the period (Acquire.com Biannual Acquisition Multiples Report, published February 11, 2026, updated September 1, 2026).
- 2.5x to 4x SDE under $1M ARR. FE International's August 25, 2026 benchmarks put SaaS businesses under $1M in annual recurring revenue at roughly 2.5x to 4x seller's discretionary earnings. For larger companies it quotes ARR multiples: about 3.5x to 5.5x ARR at $5M to $10M, and 5x to 7x above $20M, with private SaaS overall at roughly 2x to 7x ARR in 2026 (FE International, SaaS valuation multiples).
The same Acquire.com report found average margins on profitable SaaS listings of 71% in 2024, holding steady in 2025, and an average of 81 days on market for reported deals.
Which multiple applies to you
Small, profitable, owner-run SaaS is usually priced on profit, most often seller's discretionary earnings (SDE). Larger and faster-growing companies are more often priced on ARR. Our guide to SDE versus ARR multiples explains where the line usually falls and how to calculate SDE.
A worked example
Say your SaaS has $40,000 in monthly recurring revenue ($480,000 ARR) and $160,000 in SDE. On the profit basis:
- At FE International's 2.5x to 4x SDE range: $400,000 to $640,000.
- At Acquire.com's 3.9x median: $624,000.
Those are starting points, not a price. Where you land inside the range depends on the factors below.
What moves the multiple up or down
- Net revenue retention. FE International names it the metric most closely associated with the gap between top-quartile and bottom-quartile valuations.
- Gross margin. Above roughly 75%, buyers treat the business as software; below 70%, they start asking how much of the revenue is really services (FE International).
- Scale. FE International says scale changes the multiple more than almost any other single factor.
- Churn and customer concentration. Hidden churn and reliance on one large customer reduce value.
- Owner dependency and clean books. Buyers discount figures they cannot verify quickly and businesses that depend on the founder.
- Buyer competition. FE International calls running a process with several credible buyers the largest single determinant of final price.

The free SaaS valuation calculator takes your MRR, growth, gross margin, net revenue retention, churn, years in operation, customer concentration and, optionally, SDE. It returns an estimated value range and shows where your numbers are weak. It is an estimate from general market rules of thumb, not an appraisal or an offer.
